Family Devotions- How We Do It

In this video we invite you into our home to join us for family devotions. This simple, daily habit not only helps us to grow in our walk with Jesus, it also helps the family to grow in unity.

It has been a wonderful challenge for me to take up the Biblical calling to lead my family, to wash my wife with the water of the word (Eph. 5:25-26), and to disciple my children on a daily basis (Prov. 22:6). However, it has required deliberate planning and faithful action, which aren’t my strong points. I’ve made many mistakes along the way, but I won’t allow those mistakes to stop me from my duty.

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”Deuteronomy 6:6-7

If you decide to start leading your family in daily Bible-reading, praying together, and singing praises to God, you will be amazed at the transformation in your own life, and the life of your family members. You will begin to mature as a leader, as you fall in line behind God, and realize that your family is waiting for you to lead. Your wife will learn to support you in the joint-effort to disciple your children. And your children will grow to expect that the family comes before God, daily, for guidance, for sustenance, and forgiveness.

Imagine what would happen in our families, churches, workplaces, and nations if Christian families actually worshiped God together in the home, every day of the week. You would see a different world.

We are not perfect by any means, but we hope that this video can be an encouragement to you, to do as we try to do, and daily set aside time to come before God- to read His word, to pray together, and to worship Him. That’s how we do it.
